NG Apparels is a vertically integrated, family-owned clothing manufacturer and export house located in Ludhiana, Punjab — the heart of India's textile hub. Late Shri Mela Ram Jain (1884 – 1967)

The Foundation of Yarn & Textile Trading

The roots of our family business were laid in 1908 by Shri Mela Ram Jain (affectionately known as "Mela Ram Soot Wale"). Identifying the immense potential of Ludhiana's textile ecosystem, he established Sohanlal Melaram & Sons, which grew to become North India's premier firm for yarn trading and staple spinning distribution. A committed industrial pioneer and philanthropist, his core principles of integrity and uncompromised yarn quality remain our guiding philosophy today.

Late Shri Yash Pal Gupta (1927 – 2001)

Expansion into Fabric Manufacturing

At age 24, Shri Yash Pal Gupta joined his father's enterprise and expanded the family business into textile manufacturing with the establishment of Uma Textiles. Utilizing high-grade yarns produced by RK Staples and Spinning Mill, he transitioned the company into large-scale fabric production, pioneering quality standards in knitwear and woven textiles that established Ludhiana as a global apparel sourcing destination.
